Meetings

Reentry Anonymous has chosen to take advantage of the latest technology to reach the greatest amount of members through holding meetings via phone conference call. Due to a great number of ex-offenders restricted by probation, transportation, supervision, and incarceration we are able to reach more ex-offenders at a faster rate than by any other means including 'face to face' local meetings. This has become a common way to hold 12 step meetings in order to reach people otherwise not able to attend Reentry Anonymous local meetings as well as indispensable to criminal addiction recovery. The meeting is run just like Reentry Anonymous individual group meetings and how they conduct 'face to face' meetings: 1. There is a speaker/chairperson who opens the meeting. 2. The speaker/chairperson reads some Reentry Anonymous readings from our literature and announces the type of meeting (i.e, open sharing, speaker, literature/Step). 3. The speaker then picks people to share for the 60 minute meeting duration. 4. The speaker closes the meeting.

** R.A. conference call meetings are held: Tuesday: 9 P.M. Eastern Standard Time (EST)**

The primary purpose of the R.A. conference call meeting is to carry the message of experience, strength, and hope to those suffering from criminal addiction. The meeting is NOT an A.A. or a N.A. meeting, though substance abuse as it relates to ex-offender reentry is central to criminal addiction recovery. The meeting is NOT for ex-offender resource or legal issues. Only the 12 steps of Reentry Anonymous, criminal addiction recovery, and ex-offender reentry are subjects open for discussion in the meetings. The meetings are a place of learning, support, and fellowship to pass the message and solution of recovery from criminal addiction through Reentry Anonymous. Please bear in mind that we are all personally responsible for our own conduct in meeting this common purpose. Engaging in personal or threatening attacks, vulgarity, and off color jokes may be seen as discouraging to the purpose of the room. Interested in starting a Reentry Anonymous meeting at your location? Meeting starter kits will soon be available via requests made on our contact page.

Phone Meeting Instructions/Protocol

Our phone conference call meetings use a variation what is called Standard Online Protocol to simulate the various mutations of Robert's Rules of Order used in Face To Face Meetings. The chairperson runs and facilitates the meeting including calling on people to share. Please limit your sharing to 5 minutes to give others a chance. Please take a moment to review the 'Recovery Program' page above and 'The 12 Steps of Reentry Anonymous' since they will be the MAIN topics during our conference call meetings. Reentry Anonymous is a recovery program of action through the R.A. 12 steps not a program of knowledge; specifically self-knowledge.

Protocol:

  1. Call Conference:  Dial-in number 1-218-862-6789 .
  2. Depending on the calling plan you have with your phone provider, your call may be subject to long distance rates by them if your phone provider normally charges you for long distance calls. Otherwise, if you have a flat rate phone plan free of long distance charges by your phone carrier the call would not be subject to long distance rates.
  3. Key in Conference Code:   241058<--------------------<<<<<<<<---------------------<<<<<<<<.
  4. Once logged in you will be automatically muted.
  5. Once the chairperson has completed the introductory readings he will open the meeting.
  6. To signal the chairperson that you want to speak key 5* into your phone (only during the open/sharing portion of the meeting).
  7. Please wait until you're called on by the chairperson before sharing.
  8. Please REFRAIN FROM GIVING SPECIFICS ABOUT ANY PRESENT CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES. Meetings spread the message of recovery NOT the disease of addiction.
  9. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM GIVING SPECIFICS ABOUT YOUR CRIMINAL PAST. This is NOT the place for criminal histories OR Prison/Jail stories.
  10. Meeting access will be locked 20 minutes after the scheduled start time in order to not disrupt the meeting, it's speaker(s), or it's progress.

Just as in a face-to-face meeting, we do not interrupt the person who is "speaking" or crosstalk after they are done. Just as the basket is passed in traditional 'face to face' meetings to cover expenses of the group, the same is true of the expense to fund this R.A. World Services Office website, it's services, and the services listed on our 'Services' page for ALL our members. As a R.A. member benefiting from Reentry Anonymous services, please consider using our address to contribute and 'drop a buck in the basket':
